Golf tournaments at Tierra del Sol
For many years the Aruba International Pro-Am was the island's main golf event. Professional and amateur golfers teamed up for a two-day, 36-hole tournament at Tierra del Sol, traditionally in the summer, with prizes and social events.
Tierra del Sol is an 18-hole desert-links course near the California Lighthouse, designed by Robert Trent Jones II. The sea views, cacti and the constant trade wind make it a unique place to play.
The course after the renovation
Tierra del Sol reopened in October 2025 after a renovation of 13 months, carried out with the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf. Bunkers, tees and greens were restored, the irrigation was replaced to save water, and the number of nesting sites for the shoco, Aruba's national bird, was increased.
Since the reopening, tournaments are back on the course, including a charity tournament with more than 80 golfers at the end of 2025.
