Many people fall in love with Aruba on holiday and dream of moving there. Living and working on the island requires a few formal steps, which differ depending on your nationality.
Main steps
- Residence and work permit: applications are handled by DIMAS, the government department for the admission of foreign nationals. Rules for Dutch nationals differ from those for other nationalities.
- Registration: once admitted, you register at the Censo (civil registry) in Oranjestad.
- Health insurance: registered residents are covered by AZV, the general health insurance of Aruba.
