Over 100 nationalities on one small island
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS Aruba), Aruba had 109,435 inhabitants in mid-2025. The 2020 census counted around 108,000 people.
The population is very diverse: residents represent more than 100 nationalities, with Indigenous, African, European, Asian and Latin American roots.
Languages
Papiamento and Dutch are the official languages. Papiamento, a Creole language with Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, English and African influences, is spoken in most homes. English and Spanish are widely spoken too, and many Arubans speak four languages.
