I would plan two hours in advance as a standard security measure just in case, but in reality don't worry if you only plan for 90 minutes. I go to Aruba a lot and the most I've ever waited to check in is 40 minutes.
Laptops definitely help when you are playing the waiting game. I am usually at the airport 2 to 2 1/2 hours before my flight departs no matter what country I am flying out of.
