I wonder if the exchange rate has anything to do with that drop in tourism? What is Aruba doing to try to get more people to come? I know it's hard because of the economy, but isn't tourism a big part of Aruba's own economy? They have to think of something.

Im sure the tourism will pick right back up once the job market is straightened out. They just need to weather the storm

I would agree with Bethoven, advertisement is very important. Primarily, this may be due to economic crisis. I believe the island would be able to recover this year. How does the government deals with this issue?

Has there been current recovery in the island? Most probably, economic crisis is the primary reason of the decline of tourism in Aruba. One way to increase it somehow is through advertisement and possibly discounts or packages. These things would truly attract tourists. And besides, not everyone is affected by economic crisis.
