Is there ever a time in Aruba that you need a coat or are light jackets or a sweater enough? I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to pack.

Pack one light jacket and one light sweater. You most likely won't need it, but for that highly air conditioned place you run into, you will wish you had it.

Yeah but don't go showing up in a thick down coat or anything. It will just be a waste of space. I know that could happen anyway if you are coming from someplace really cold.

I am laughing at that image. Yes, definitely don't pack a heavy winter coat unless you are planning for an ice age. In which case, Aruba is not a bad place to be.
