Another thing I see when I go to Aruba is a red ribbon tied above many doors. Has anyone else noticed this? What does this mean?

I have seen this as well. Most the ones I have seen are actually suspended over the door. When I asked they said that the red ribbon keeps away unwanted "Spirits".
