It is really nice to be able to use your US Dollars while on Aruba. On my first trip there, I had totally forgotten to exchange my money before leaving, but I was so happy that they take dollars with no problem! The only thing is, I am not sure if I lost out on the conversion rate by not doing it....
It's useful to have a back up money supply I agree. I think I read something on this forum about the taxi drivers only taking dollar bills to a certain amount though, so it's probably better to make sure you take a mixture of money.
