Beautiful to look at, dangerous to swim
Please note: swimming at these beaches is dangerous because of strong currents and waves. There are no lifeguards.
The east coast of Aruba is completely different from the calm west coast. Waves crash onto rugged shores and the trade winds blow hard. The beaches here are spectacular to see, but not for swimming.
Boca Prins and Dos Playa
Inside Arikok National Park you will find Boca Prins, with its sand dunes, and Dos Playa, two beaches divided by a rock formation. Signs warn against entering the water because of the strong undertow. Park entrance fees apply.
Grapefield Beach
A long, quiet beach of soft white sand on the south-east coast, next to Boca Grandi. There are no facilities and swimming is not recommended because of currents and wind.
Boca Grandi
Near San Nicolas, Boca Grandi is a spot for advanced kitesurfers, with strong side-onshore winds. The currents make swimming dangerous. For a safe swim, head to nearby Baby Beach.

Beach conditions change with wind and season. Always follow warning signs and flags, and never swim alone at beaches without lifeguards.
