I heard that the taxis' rates' in Aruba are set by the government. How are they going to charge you? Is it based on mileage or destination? Thanks.

They are going to charge you based on your destination and not on mileage. They also consider the number passengers. Have you gone to Aruba before?

In Aruba, it is not a common practice to raise your hands in order to call a cab, rather, tourists are accommodated with taxis. The rates, as what you have said, are set by the government. However, isn't it a good practice to ask the driver first before you ride with them?

Your advice are valuable. I admit that taking a taxi in other countries is not as simple as ABC. I think taxi drivers in Aruba are willing to have a negotiation with regard to fares. Right? Will they charge you a higher rate when you travel late at night?
