Public transport, taxis and other options
You do not need a car to get around Aruba. Buses connect the main hotel areas with Oranjestad and San Nicolas, taxis have fixed fares, and bikes are a pleasant option along the coast.
Arubus
- Line 10 runs between the Oranjestad bus terminal, Eagle Beach, Palm Beach and the hotel area further north.
- Line 2 connects the airport with Oranjestad and San Nicolas.
- A single ride costs about $2.60; a day pass costs about $15.
- You can pay in cash on board or use a Smartcard.
Taxis
- Taxis do not use meters: fares are fixed by the government.
- Official fares from the airport (2026): Oranjestad about $26, Eagle Beach about $37, Palm Beach about $41, San Nicolas about $45.
- A $5 surcharge applies at night (23:00–07:00), on Sundays and during the holidays.
- Licensed taxis have "TX" licence plates.
- There is no Uber or Lyft in Aruba.
Other options
- The free streetcar runs between the cruise terminal and downtown Oranjestad, Monday to Saturday from about 10:00 to 17:00.
- Green Bike Aruba rents bikes from stations along the coast between Oranjestad and Malmok.
- Many hotels offer airport shuttles.
