Malls, markets and local products
From luxury watches to local aloe products, Aruba offers plenty of shopping. The main areas are downtown Oranjestad and the Palm Beach hotel area.
Note that Aruba is not a completely tax-free island: a combined sales tax of about 7 per cent applies to most purchases. Genuine duty-free shopping is available at the airport.
Oranjestad
- Main Street (Caya G.F. Betico Croes), the traditional shopping street
- Royal Plaza Mall, the pink building by the cruise terminal, with international brands
- Renaissance Mall and Renaissance Marketplace on the waterfront, with shops, a cinema and live music
Palm Beach
- Paseo Herencia, an open-air shopping village with a cinema and fountain shows
- Palm Beach Plaza and The Village
What to buy
- Jewellery and watches
- Aruba Aloe products, straight from the factory
- Dutch cheese and local rum and liqueurs
- Local art, for example from San Nicolas
