Accomodations For the Elderly In Aruba

I felt a little bad for my Dad the last time we decided to go to Aruba. We invited him along, but he told me that he would pass, because he had heard that it wasn't very easy for a handicapped person to get around on the island. I looked into it a little, and found that the hotels do not have wheelchairs, and that there are very few rooms that are handicap accessible. At least at the ones that I checked. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? It would be nice if we could bring him along next time.

I think things are changing pretty fast as there are now several resorts with some rooms and facilities for disabled visitors. If you need to hire specialist equipment for your father you can check out this site . Great service.

That's a useful link for anyone travelling with family and friends who have special medical needs. My impression is also that resorts are the better bet. They may not have a lot of special rooms though so best to book up early if you can.

It will be a different thing now. Many hotels in Aruba have handicapped facilities like, for instance, wheelchairs, oxygen, scooters. However, if your father needs medical assistance, you may lease from a nearby hospital. Service is available all day long and delivery to your hotel is guaranteed for free. By the way, how old is your father?

I think you can bring him in your next trip to Aruba. In fact, one of my aunt's office mate said that hotels there are now equipped with facilities for a handicapped people. However, you must assess your father's condition if he's fit for a long travel. Will you agree with me?
